We are the CHAMPIOOOONS:D

June 22, 2008

While I barely understand the rules and concepts of football, I must say I enjoyed last night’s Euro 2008 quarter final Russia-Holland match IMMENSELY..

What a great, great game!!!!!!

And a really deserved win that took 20 years to achieve! ( Russia has not gotten through the group phase in a tournament since 1988!! That’s Soviet Russia!)

I was amazed at the skill of both team’s players, I really cannot imagine how much effort must go in to achieve this sort of consciousness and control, wowwww!:O It was as exciting as it gets, I didn’t think I’d enjoy it as much as I did!! Even worth the hundreds of people cheering and yelling and honking in the streets all night, haha:)
And the emotions on that field – can it get any more intense??! Absolutely amazing to watch.. The players, their coach, the audience…so much energyyy!!

Anyway, the score (3-1) confirmed that the performance of the Russian team this year is more than merely luck, it’s definitely the combination of a strong team and an exceptional coach – as what else can you call someone who was able to transform the Russian team in this way?!

CONGRATULATIONS RUSSIAAAAA!!! Truly a well deserved and long-awaited comeback. 2008 is a good year for Russia it seems – first the hockey, then Eurovision, now this..:D Woohoo!!:)

For those that missed the match.. Here is a great video summary and some highlights

{I saw you dancing…}…random thoughts on dance and work

June 18, 2008

Sooo, over the past few weeks that I’ve been working (ha!me and working, it sounds rather grown-up:p), I’ve slowly been getting used to my altered lifestyle.

To be honest, I still can’t quite believe the fact that I am now entitled to wake up, go to the theatre, warm up, take class, rehearse, and call it my work, or my workplace. It’s amazing, and in some way somewhat of a luxury  because, really, what can be compared to dancing & working in a theatre environment?!!!! ..Just being able to absorb the atmosphere of the rehearsals in-progress, watching so many talented dancers in their natural habitat..Of course, I am biased because I have been dancing since forever, but I really feel that it’s a profession that stands out immensely from the rest – and I feel really priviledged to have the chance to be in it.

As any other ballet dancer, plus, of course being the neurotic and obsessive person that I am, I have had an infinite amount of moments when I would think – ‘ I won’t be able to do it, I will fail, I should quit, I’m too this and that and not enough that, I have worked hard but not enough, or even if enough, it was worthless because it would lead to nothing good..” Naturally, all that those thoughts ever led to, was panic, at best. In fact, over the years I realized that there are times when it’s much, much better not to think at all, because thoughts can be quite destructive. Coincidentally, the moments I let go and just concentrated on doing whateverrr for the sake of doing it, I found to be the most productive:)

And now, it is all over! Of course, I acknowledge that this new stage has plenty of it’s own problems (some of them, I have already been introduced to:)), but hey, since I have now officially moved from Category 1 – dancer in training to Cat.2 – beginning professional dancer (yahooo!!), I am willing to face them!!:D

and on this happy note I am going to leave it at that for tonight.:)

Hello to all:

After months of consideration, I have finally decided, once again, to set up a blog –  a place for me to share and reflect on my day-to-day experiences and wonderings…Why now? Well, quite a few things changed in my life over the past few months – I have graduated from school, turned 18, graduated from my ballet training program (although the training never ends..haha), achieved my long term goal of joining a professional ballet company… life is wonderful and diverse! Anyway – with all the new things going on, I feel that they ought to be described!:) The obstacles, the funny day to day things, the big things, the new experiences..

And so the story begins!
